Back At It

Ok, i survived the second semester of nursing classes. Two down and one more to go.  Yippee!!  I am ashamed to say that I gained back close to 15 pounds. Yikes!  Well, I weighed in at 254.4 this morning.  So where does this leave me.   It leaves me with hard work.  Stress has gotten me here.  I’ve made excuses after excuses.   It’s exactly what it is excuses.  I am going to work hard and stop making them.  Stress is part of everyday life. I don’t believe there is one person out there who can claim to have a total stress free life.  I came to the conclusion though that not eating right and not following plan is causing me stress.  I made out some diary sheets that will allow me to write down my food for every meal and snack.  I have a spot to write down my exercise, track my water intake, and there is even a spot at the end of the week to write my accomplishments and the things I need to work on.

I am on my last day of vacation.  I did manage to get rid of the dew during vacation so that is a great thing.  I just need to work on food portions, exercise, and the kinds of food.  This is doable. I’ve done it before and can do it again successfully this time.

They don’t call it the freshman 15 for nothing! Regardless of what year you are in school it is so easy to grab food on the go and munch while you study. I used to convince myself that if I ate M&Ms while studying I would stimulate my brain activity and do better. Well I ended up not being able to sleep due to a non stop sugar rush and gaining weight! Take it fro me, put the candy down haha! Seriously though, you are disciplined in your school work, why not apply those same principles to what you eat? Just take it one meal at a time, and second guess yourself with everything you eat. Is this really worth the calories? Maybe a salad would be a better choice? You can totally do this! Like you said, you have done it before!

It happens to all of us girl. I was away for a few months and gained 20 back so here I am again. Live and learn right? Good luck getting back on track. And that’s great that you have just one more class to go!!!

Not being on can REALLY cause the weight to creep back on, but just get back to it. YOU KNOW YOU CAN DO IT. I like the journaling idea. And it is good you are seeing the effects of stress. I too must work on stress management. And sleep. Are you getting plenty of rest? Not enough can cause the pounds to creep up. Are you content with what you eat? Does what you eat provide you with energy for 3-5 hours after?

My aunt was for her entire career MUCH larger then you and I do not even know how she did 12 hour days/nights. You will have loads of energy as you lose each set of 10 pounds. All for you girl! You can and you will do it.

I have gained a few so I too need to look at all this. Funny how we can know what to do, but it just seems so tough…. Determination! Have you checked out Kama. SHE DID IT :) So cool.

    Have a good one.
